José Bautista, Drew Hutchison, Jake McGee and Ryan Weber joined more than 40 student volunteers from the Tampa-St. Petersburg area on Saturday (Nov. 19) to assemble "hygiene kits" for the area's homeless population this winter.

The players and Action Team Captains from George Steinbrenner High School, King High School and Manatee School for the Arts assembled the kits at Volunteers of America's Kaylee Bay Village in Tampa, which is a housing complex for veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Jake Peavy and Volunteers of America Upgrade Veterans Transitional Home

Jake Peavy led a team of volunteers who spent part of the weekend building out a community area at a transitional home for more than 30 formerly homeless veterans in Mobile, Ala., called Eagle’s Landing.

The service project brought together the Jake Peavy Foundation and Home Depot together with Volunteers of America Southeast, a local affiliate of the Players Trust’s national partner that operates the Eagles Landing facility and others like it across the country.

Tonight on MLB Network (8-9:30 PM ET) the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) will announce the winners of its 25th annual presentation of the Players Choice Awards.  The awards program will be presented by MLB The Show™ and sponsored by Majestic Athletic.

The Players Choice Awards, in which the players themselves recognize excellence on and off the field, have been presented by the MLBPA, since 1992, when Major Leaguers selected Dennis Eckersley and Barry Bonds as the AL and NL Outstanding Players, respectively.   

Major Leaguers & Our Children’s Vision Give the Gift of Sight

On a beautiful fall day in Gary, IN, a pair of former Major League baseball players returned to their roots bearing the gift of vision. 

Northwest Indiana natives, LaTroy Hawkins and Kenny Lofton represented all Major Leaguers, when they participated in a free World Sight Day (October 13, 2016) vision event co-hosted by the Major League Baseball Players Trust and the Sydney, Australia based global campaign, Our Children’s Vision. 

The event was held at Williams Elementary School, in Hawkins’ hometown of Gary, and a long-toss, baseball throw from his grandmother’s house.

Lance McCullers of the Houston Astros is The Leader of the Pack

Lance McCullers sometimes employs unorthodox training methods to keep it interesting. He’s been known to swing an axe in the backyard, or even do squats with his wife Kara on his shoulders.

Another way Kara and Lance support each other is in the passion they share for animal advocacy and protection.
They have a rescue dog, a husky named Minka, and they’ve acted on their passion by creating the Lance McCullers Jr. Foundation to invest, bring awareness and develop programs aimed at advocating for stray and homeless animals across the country.

NEW YORK, September 21, 2016 /3BL Media/ - When floods ravaged the Houston, TX area this past spring, the Players Trust stepped to the plate with an $18,000 grant to help get two area Little Leagues back on the field.  The grant funded the purchase and distribution of new equipment to ensure that 600 youth from West Oaks and Bear Creek Little Leagues would be able to take the field by the start of their fall season.
