Relaxing Floors collaborators will offer another perspective on biophilic concepts
CALHOUN, Ga. September 8, 2020 /3BL Media/ - Next week Mohawk Group will host the latest presentation in its Resourceful CEU series and debut an accredited session that showcases an emerging body of work in the realm of biophilic design. “Fractal Fluency in the Built Environment” will focus on the intersection of science, design and art, and the concepts behind a stress-reductive approach to commercial spaces. The hour-long course will be offered on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. EST to accommodate guests tuning in across different time zones.
Mohawk encourages our facilities throughout the world to pursue zero waste to landfill (ZLF) certification, which requires a plant to recycle or reuse 90% or more of its manufacturing process waste. To date, 50 Mohawk facilities have earned this certification. The most recent facility to achieve ZLF is the Georgia Hard Surfaces Bulk distribution center, the busiest distribution operation in our company. The site reduced waste to landfill by 57% in just six months to achieve 90% diversion.

“These ladies and the guys, they’re used to sewing and putting things together, but there’s no project that they can’t do. We’ve tackled many things, but this is one of the things that we’re the most proud of,” Mohawk Sewing Department Manager Darlene Pasley said.
At the Mohawk facility on Antioch Road they normally manufacture bath mats and residential carpet, but now they’re taking on a new focus: making gowns for doctors and nurses.
