12th Annual positiveNRG Week Achieves More than 4,100 Hours of Employee Volunteerism
PRINCETON, N.J., June 12, 2019 /3BL Media/ — Over 800 NRG Energy, Inc. (NYSE:NRG) employees volunteer upwards of 4,100 hours during of the company’s 12th “positiveNRG week,” the company’s annual week of volunteering. Over the course of the week, employees were provided the opportunity to select and serve the non-profits in their communities that mean the most to them.
Though there is not yet a standardized process for corporate reporting on SDGs, we continually assess our business strategy and operations to identify opportunities for a greater contribution toward the SDGs. Our core business strategy and vision most directly aligns with SDG 7, designed to “Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all.”

February 15th, 2019 marked our Sales Director Art Formas’ 41st anniversary in the energy industry. Well before we became known as NRG, Art worked for our predecessor, Houston Lighting and Power Company, as a Power Consultant—one of seven job titles he’s held in the industry to date.
Today’s businesses are securing renewable energy in record numbers. In fact, commercial and industrial companies contracted for more renewables last year than ever before — 6.5 GW compared to 2.8 GW in 2017. In Texas alone, the total amount of energy generated from wind and solar has reached nearly 20 percent in recent years. The state stands out for its abundance of renewables offered at attractive prices, motivating businesses to sign large offtake agreements.(1)
