When Scotiabank was looking to find new ways to close the gender gap, it turned to what it had been deploying in nearly every other facet of its business: technology.

It analyzed a myriad of data sets for its Canadian employees, including internal social media interactions and past performance data, to come up with variables that correlated with success, said Permpreet Sidhu, the bank’s vice-president of performance and inclusion.

Milton, Ontario's Ben Preisner had an impressive Half-Marathon debut to take the men's title in 65:41, while North Vancouver's Natasha Wodak narrowly missed the course record in a time of 71:21.

Cal Dewolfe (2:34.41) and Clara Lownie (3:24.24) were first to cross the finish line in the Scotiabank Full Marathon after a fantastic run through the vibrant streets of Halifax, Nova Scotia for the 16th annual Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon weekend.

After consultations with external experts and a thorough peer review, we established an internal tax of CAD$15 per tonne of CO2 for our global Scope 1 and 2 emissions. This allowed us to fairly compare projects that required higher upfront costs (but delivered longer-term energy savings), with those that were more cost-effective but short-term solutions.
