Earlier this year, we kicked off the inaugural General Mills Feeding Better Futures Scholars Program, an initiative aimed at solving the food accessibility problems of today and tomorrow with help and ideas from amazing young people.

After reviewing a number of fantastic submissions from across North America, we selected five finalists who are doing big things in their communities with work that tackles hunger relief and sustainable agriculture.

From a donation that helped make a dream come true for a high school marching band to thanking military service members with care packages, General Mills, Cheerios and Walmart just wrapped up “Moments of Good.” 

The campaign, from January through March, allowed Walmart and Cheerios to create one million special moments for people shopping in the retailer’s U.S. stores and within their surrounding communities.  

How Annie’s Is Working Differently in Montana

A new sort of farmers market just arrived in the northern plains of Montana, and Annie’s is proud to be part of it.

For the last eighteen months, we’ve been working with organic grain farmers, Casey Bailey and Nate Powell-Palm, to create limited edition Annie’s items – Honey Bunny Grahams and Elbow Pasta & Cheddar – made from organic crops grown on their farms.

Zach Knutson is as much economist as he is farmer. He’s had to be.

Unlike many farmers, Knutson didn’t inherit land. Instead, he’s earned and invested his way into the industry, relying on his entrepreneurial savvy and passion for growing plants and crops.

Knutson’s career in agriculture started in elementary school when he had a small garden. Later, he nurtured a chicken flock to sell eggs for extra spending money. In college, he realized he liked the business.
