Over the last decade, oncologist Jennifer Pietenpol has been trying to decode and kill a difficult-to-treat type of breast cancer. Known as triple-negative breast cancer, this form of the disease can be highly aggressive and resistant to chemotherapy.

The donation will greatly enhance the GlaxoSmithKline Hope for Families Fund, an endowment fund which was established in 2008 with a $1 million gift from The GlaxoSmithKline Foundation and GlaxoSmithKline, and matched by The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
