Arlington, Texas—The first Buses for Baseball event of the 2015 season kicked off on Thursday, June 4,  at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas, when 50 individuals from Rae’s Hope, a local Dallas based charity, were treated to an unforgettable day at the ballpark as the personal guests of the Players Trust and Rangers players. This one-of-a-kind ballpark visit included free roundtrip transportation, tickets, souvenirs, food and beverages and personal greetings by more than 10 Texas Rangers players.

Six Yankees players -- Chris Martin, Andrew Miller, John Ryan Murphy, Alex Rodriguez, Chasen Shreve and Chase Whitley – converged at the Harlem RBI field in New York on Friday as the Players Trust hosted a heartfelt City Clinic for more than 50 kids from the NYC Autism Charter School.

The players gave more cheers and high fives than hard instruction as the autistic kids demonstrated their baseball skills and home run trots in front of happy crowd of parents, teachers and supporters.

Chris Capuano told Action Team student volunteers from around the country that providing assistance to the less fortunate helps him put into context the professional pressures he faces as a pitcher in the Major Leagues.

“Volunteering gives you that perspective,” the Yankees left-hander told the Action Team Captains in the program’s April teleconference. “I know I am dealing with something tough right now but it’s nothing I can’t work through.”

As part of Players Trust and Volunteers of America’s Action Team recognition efforts, Brunswick (ME) Action Team Captains recently attended a Boston Red Sox game, including pregame batting practice.

The Brunswick Action Team used their trip to historic Fenway Park as an opportunity to chronicle their activities throughout the school-year by producing their very own Action Team highlight video.  And as you’ll see in the video, the Brunswick Action Team sure had a busy and productive year.

Major League Baseball Players Trust to Live Below the Line in support of Physicians for Peace and other nonprofits

From April 27 through May 1, the Major League Baseball Players Trust is joining forces with The Global Poverty Project’s Live Below the Line campaign to raise awareness and funds for the more than 1.2 billion people around the world living in extreme poverty (Learn more here.).  

Through the Players Trust, Major Leaguers provide funding to support the work of several non-profits dedicated to helping improve the lives of people living below the poverty line. One such partner is Physicians for Peace.
