When Points of Light and its partners in the nonprofit world gathered for the launch of A Billion + Change in 2011, there were inspiring speeches and stories of a few corporate programs already doing great pro bono work.
For me, there was a slightly frightening admonition by a U.S. Senator not to fail in our effort to encourage hundreds of companies to take a pledge to do more pro bono service.
Team4Tech volunteers are using their tech know-how to help build out after-school STEM programs for students in Thika, Kenya.
In the next two weeks Oct 18- Nov 1, Team4Tech volunteers from Facebook, Coursera, Google and Intersol will be using their tech know-how to help build out after-school STEM programs for students from Kenyatta and Barracks Primary schools in Thika, Kenya. They will train teachers to create, deploy and maintain their own after-school STEM program using computers, selected math and science adaptive software, and 21st century teaching methods that foster collaboration, critical thinking and creative problem solving.

261 Companies Took Part in Largest Study of Corporate Societal Engagement
NEW YORK, NY, October 20, 2014 /3BL Media/ - From 2010 to 2013, giving increased for 64% of companies, and it grew by more than 10% for 52% of companies. Companies that increased giving since 2010 improved business performance; companies that increased giving by more than 10% since 2010 also increased median revenues by 11% from 2010 to 2013, and pre-tax profits increased for 59% of those companies.

BVU works to engage skilled volunteers in critical pro bono projects throughout the Greater Cleveland/Akron area, providing much needed skills and expertise to nonprofits. Through the efforts of BVU’s Pro Bono Corps, nonprofits are able to deliver programming and services to meet the needs of the community. Over time, BVU has facilitated 728 pro bono projects.
