Safety has always been CSX’s top priority – and the company’s partnership with Operation Lifesaver is critical to tackling this important issue head-on by promoting public safety around the tracks. 

Operation Lifesaver’s mission is to end collisions, deaths and injuries at rail crossings and on railroad property.  The group works toward this mission through public awareness campaigns and a nationwide network of volunteers who work to educate children and adults about rail safety. 

Norfolk Southern Safety Train Reaches More Than 1,900 First Responders on 18-City Tour

NORFOLK, Va., Nov. 21, 2016 /3BL Media/ – Norfolk Southern’s safety train recently completed its 2016 tour, training 1,926 first responders in 18 cities in 13 states across NS’ rail network. With rolling classrooms and hands-on activities, the safety train provided free training to firefighters, police officers, emergency management personnel, and other first responders on how to safely respond to a rail-related hazardous materials incident.

BNSF Sponsors Twitter Contest to Promote Rail Safety with Students in Riverside, Calif.


In the company’s first-ever Twitter contest, BNSF Railway is asking California high school students and teachers to get the word out about safety around railroad tracks. The contest is being held in coordination with the Riverside (Calif.) Unified School District, Operation Lifesaver and the Southern California Rail Safety team.

Safety Campaign's Message: Always Expect a Train


Union Pacific Railroad is launching a multi-media, bilingual public safety campaign aimed at encouraging pedestrians and drivers to safely use railroad crossings. Part of the Union Pacific Crossing Accident Reduction Education and Safety (UP CARES) initiative, the advertising campaign utilizes radio spots and billboards in English and Spanish to reach audiences in Houston, San Antonio, Laredo, Midland and Odessa, Texas; Plaquemine, Louisiana; Little Rock, Arkansas; Fresno, California; Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota; and Chicago.
