Palm oil is one of the most widely used vegetable oils, accounting for ~65% of all vegetable oil traded internationally. It can be found in thousands of products, from food items like baked goods and ice cream to personal care products such as cosmetics, shampoos and detergents. Palm oil is derived from the fruit of oil palm trees which are found in tropical regions such as Indonesia and Malaysia. Oil palm trees are known for yielding more oil from less land than any other vegetable oil.

Human Rights Day is celebrated internationally each year on December 10th to commemorate the day in 1948 when the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This declaration was a milestone in recognizing fundamental human rights to be universally protected, such as the right to free choice of employment or the right to education. People living in extreme poverty or in regions with less market opportunities can often be more vulnerable to human rights abuses.
