The 8th UFI (Union of International Fairs) Educational Forum on Sustainable Development, which had taken place in Asia for three consecutive years, was hosted in the United States for the first time ever. The theme for 2018’s forum centered around “next steps toward sustainability,” and was open to all professionals in the events industry.

This will be the third installment of the series, which is free to attend and designed for corporate responsibility and sustainability professionals. “Aligning Business With the Global Goals: Las Vegas Sands Takes Action” is scheduled for Aug. 23 at 2 p.m. ET.
Las Vegas Sands conducted its annual Global Clean Plate Challenge in an effort to reduce its environmental impact on the environment through its award-winning program, Sands ECO360. The company encourages its Team Members to be conservative with their food quantities during the clean plate challenge, but also the rest of the year.
Pranav Jampani has been surrounded by some form of sustainability throughout his academic life and career. It’s only fitting that as the director of sustainability at The Venetian, The Palazzo and Sands Expo, Jampani works to effectively integrate sustainability into the resort’s practices, processes, and culture.
To provide the community with accessible horticulture, the Sands Cares and Sands ECO360 teams partnered with Penn State Extension, Lehigh and Northampton County 4-H, and the Community Action Development Corporation of Bethlehem to build planting beds for the Lynfield Community Center in Bethlehem.
“The partnership just made sense,” said Susan Stachowski, community relations coordinator at Sands Bethlehem. “With all of our combined resources, we were able to put financial backing, manpower, and education toward this initiative.”
