Sands for Singapore is the annual charity festival organized by Marina Bay Sands to raise awareness of partner charities and raise funds for them through a series of events. David Beckham, Sands Global Ambassador and international sports star, announced the sixth annual festival will begin August 24 through August 26 at a special launch event.
Marina Bay Sands hosts a week of giving for local community
Marina Bay Sands (MBS) held its fifth annual Sands for Singapore Charity Festival in 2017 with overall results again surpassing previous years’ efforts. A primary initiative for Sands Cares in Singapore, the week-long festival raised S$3.9 million (USD $2.8 million) for local community charities and welcomed more than 20,000 visitors to its various events. Since 2013, Sands for Singapore has raised more than S$20 million (USD $14.7 million).
Through Sands Cares, Las Vegas Sands and its properties give back to the communities in which they operate as part of our responsibility as good corporate citizens. Marina Bay Sands Team Members volunteered to join 12 beneficiaries from Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN) Centre for Adults to purchase much needed groceries for 60 financially vulnerable families for the holiday season. The beneficiaries paired up with Team Members who provided guidance as they shopped for the groceries at the Giant Hypermarket at Tampines.
Marina Bay Sands Team Members brought 40 children from the Dyslexia Association of Singapore and Students Care Service on a fun-filled hospitality career workshop in support of the annual AmCham Corporate Community Day in November. Organized by The American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore (AmCham) and the U.S. Embassy, it is a special day that encourages all American organizations in Singapore and its employees to build stronger ties with Singapore through local community work.
At 60, Rieta Yap performs her duties as a Security Service Administrator at Marina Bay Sands (MBS) with a spring in her step. She is one of the most active contributors on the OneMBS Social Network, MBS’s internal Facebook group, and she eagerly looks forward to Sands for Singapore posts about volunteer opportunities.
When Pretika R K left the Republic of Singapore Navy after nearly a decade of service to her country, she rededicated her life to another form of service – making a difference in the lives of others. Pretika has been an active member of the community since she was young and has volunteered at various organizations on her own time.
The Marina Bay Sands 2017 Youth Education Award is an annual event that rewards and recognizes the excellent academic performance of Team Members’ children. The award is given out to inspire students to achieve outstanding academic performance. Launched in 2013, the Youth Education Award is an exclusive Team Member benefit that helps Team Members and their families directly.
