ScottsMiracle-Gro is deeply invested in the future of Long Island and its water resources. The Long Island Water Education Program, run by the North Shore Land Alliance and funded by The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation, connects area students with the water resources under their feet. Through in-class STEM education and hands-on field learning, middle-years students learn about Long Island’s sole source aquifer and how their actions can affect water resources. They build mini-models of the aquifer and begin to understand the link between conserving land and protecting water.
Since 2011, The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation has supported 1,000 community gardens in every state across the country. From edible gardens solving for food insecurity to green schoolyards providing natural places for children to learn and grow, GRO1000 is bringing the powerful benefits of gardens to the communities that need them the most.
