During California’s stay-at-home order in response to the COVID-19 emergency, many things have changed. One thing hasn’t: the need for critical work to prepare for the threat of wildfires.
ROSEMEAD, Calif., May 4, 2020 /3BL Media/ — Southern California Edison announced that it has signed seven contracts totaling 770 megawatts of battery-based energy storage resources to help enhance the region’s electric system reliability needs. The recently conducted solicitation and the resulting contracts make up one of the country’s largest energy storage procurements.
To support customers struggling to make ends meet because of the global crisis, Southern California Edison has increased the amount of bill relief provided by the Energy Assistance Fund.
The pandemic has forced the U.S. Census Bureau to adjust its promotion plans for participation. Southern California Edison, meanwhile, continues to stress the importance of the 2020 census and encourages everyone to fill out the form online, by phone or by completing the census mailer at home.
ROSEMEAD, Calif., April 17, 2020 — To help Californians who are facing hardships because of quarantines, taking care of family or school and business closures, Edison International pledged $1 million on March 13 to local nonprofits whose focus is on providing critical services, food and necessities to vulnerable communities in response to COVID-19.
ROSEMEAD, Calif., April 16, 2020 /3BL Media/ — Thirty high school seniors in Southern California Edison’s service area have been named 2020 Edison Scholars and will be awarded $1.2 million in scholarships by Edison International to pursue science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) studies.
To help food banks continue distributing needed meals to vulnerable communities, Edison International has donated $500,000 to five Southern California nonprofits.

When Tammy Tran and her three sisters were growing up in Santa Ana, she recalls the food boxes they regularly received from the Orange County Food Bank filled with cheeses, cereal boxes and canned food.
“My parents are immigrants from Vietnam and were struggling. Growing up, I thought everyone got those boxes,” said Tran, a senior manager at Southern California Edison.
Electricity is an essential service exempt from Gov. Gavin Newsom’s stay-at-home order.
