The beautiful shades of pink are more than just colors.
Each October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It’s a time to remember to get a mammogram, educate yourself and your family about the risks of cancer, and also raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research and patient resources.
Since 2001, Mohawk Industries has contributed more than $6 million to Susan G. Komen, the largest breast cancer research organization in the United States. Through corporate donation programs including Decorate for the Cure and Specify for a Cure — as well as different employee-led initiatives — we are committed to this ongoing partnership to one day find a cure.
A variety of factors influence a designer’s specification process, from a client’s wish list to the environmental impact of a given material. But it’s a rare moment when product choice lends itself to charitable contributions.
Mohawk Group and Durkan are committed to the fight against breast cancer and as a long-term partner of Susan G. Komen®, we are helping to make a difference through our corporate donation program, Specify for a Cure®. You can help too: When you specify eligible products within our program, we will make a donation on your behalf to Susan G. Komen.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, our A&D Design Director Royce Epstein shares her experience with breast cancer – and how she keeps moving forward. Her insight and outlook are an inspiration.
Last September, I had the honor of addressing the opening crowd at the Komen Philadelphia 3-Day Walk. I looked at my fellow breast cancer survivors and their family members from the stage and spoke humbly from the heart with a quiver in my voice. In May, I led the Komen Philadelphia Survivor’s Parade with two friends and other survivors, all who have recently battled breast cancer.
Employees at Mohawk Industries recently took part in their company-wide Pink Out to rally in support of Susan G. Komen. The annual event is part of the flooring manufacturer’s annual observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and took place at the corporate headquarters in Calhoun, Ga. Each year, employees come together to learn more about the company’s corporate partnership with the organization and receive updates on the latest initiatives and monetary amounts donated back to Susan G. Komen since 2001.
