1. Tell us about your background (where you grew up, went to school, your family, etc.).
September 26, 2019 /3BL Media/ — Freeport-McMoRan awarded The Boys and Girls Club of the Gila Valley a $20,000 grant for its Robotics Team named the Nerdy Newbs to compete at the Arizona North Regional Robotics Competition held at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona.
The equipment and competition entries for the Boys and Girls robotics program were purchased through the $20,000 STEM scholarship awarded by Freeport-McMoRan.
Since 2011, Freeport-McMoRan’s Pollinator Conservation Initiative has sought to increase the habitat for pollinators and to provide learners of all ages with opportunities to engage with topics in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Today, more than a dozen Freeport-McMoRan operations in North America have implemented pollinator conservation and education projects both on and off company property.
These programs have been recognized through the Wildlife Habitat Council’s (WHC) Conservation Certification program.

The life science business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany operates as MilliporeSigma in the U.S. and Canada.
1. How did you get your start with MilliporeSigma?
In the 2019 Top-Rated Workplaces by global job site Indeed, Booz Allen not only made the top 50 among Fortune 500 companies. It climbed in rank, from No. 38 in 2018 to No. 23.

Among adults 25 and older employed in STEM jobs, only 9 percent are black and 7 percent Hispanic, according to Pew Research Center. The percentages in engineering are 5 percent black and 8 percent Hispanic1.
Given the current lack of diversity in today’s workplace, how can minority STEM professionals play a role in increasing the ranks of diverse STEM talent?
