Local BJ’s Wholesale Clubs participated in National NeighborWoods® Month, an annual campaign to plant and care for community trees during the month of October. Due to BJ’s partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, BJ’s Clubs learned of various volunteer opportunities to improve their neighborhoods by planting and caring for trees.

A total of 200 000 trees have been planted by Nespresso and partner Pur Projet in Ethiopia and Guatemala since the beginning of the year to benefit over 600 local coffee farmers. This agroforestry initiative, part of the Nespresso AAA Sustainable Quality™ Program in coffee producing countries, is meant to improve soil fertility and productivity of coffee farms by providing shade for coffee trees and prevent landslides on community land. These new trees will also provide income diversification to farmers through the sales of fruit and timber.

MGM Resorts employees have logged 1.3 Million actions to make our world a better place to live. Combined, these actions have saved enough water to fill 93 olympic-size swimming pools, 843 dumpsters worth of trash, 79 railroad cars of coal worth of emissions, and 4,079 trees.

Lahey Health employee volunteers root for the environment by planting 15 trees
October 27, 2014 /3BL Media/ - Lahey Health has partnered with CBS EcoMedia through its EcoAd program to support the planting of 15 large trees at the intersection of Pawtucket Street and Father Morissette Boulevard in downtown Lowell. The tree planting was coordinated by Alliance for Community Trees and the Lowell Parks & Conservation Trust. Funding will support ongoing maintenance and pruning of the trees.
Lahey Health’s funding will increase downtown Lowell’s urban forest while achieving the many quality-of-life benefits that come with planting trees.
