We hope you’re ready for National Volunteer Week (4/23 - 4/29)! Here at VolunteerMatch, we’re eager to celebrate #NVW2017 by honoring the volunteers and people who make volunteering possible — you!
In today’s post, we’re highlighting ways to inspire your volunteers — through bite-sized, inspirational quotes you can share with your networks to encourage them to get out and volunteer. Here are some of our favorites.
Giving people opportunities to pursue their interests is key to driving employee engagement. According to Gallup, engaged organizations see a 3.9x earnings per share (EPS) growth rate compared to organizations with lower engagement in the same industry.
How do you develop engaged leaders among your employees? One effective way is through a top-notch employee volunteer program.
We teamed up with our partners at Causecast for a free webinar to share:
Amidst this time of political tumult, emotions are running high and companies are caught in the crossfire. For corporate social responsibility (CSR) and HR managers, it can be difficult to understand how to leverage volunteer and giving programs in ways that respond to current events without being overly reactive to them.
On October 7, Shire hosted its second annual Global Day of Service. More than one-third of our newly expanded workforce participated in volunteer projects worldwide. Employee volunteers dedicated over 25,000 hours of their time in more than 150 locations. Many projects focused on helping children to “overcome odds.” They included employees helping prepare the SeriousFun Children’s Network camp in Ireland for fall programs, and others developing activity booklets for sick children in Switzerland.
Where does a volunteer opportunity on VolunteerMatch end up?
Multimedia with summary
For nearly 20 years, VolunteerMatch has connected good people with good causes. From our launch in 1998 to date, we’ve grown to support a community of over 110,000 nonprofits, over 7,000,000 registered volunteers, and over 100 companies.
Born in Palo Alto and raised in San Francisco — America’s tech capital — we launched smart and early. Today, we’re the Web’s largest volunteer engagement network. To illustrate the reach of our network we created this “sweet” video.
...Books for Bedtime encourages organizations and schools to hold their own book drives to benefit the nonprofit. It also joined VolunteerMatch, which links people willing to donate their time with a cause. The Warrens said that led to companies such as The Limited and Morgan Stanley sponsoring book drives. "It was really exciting the first time. I got to tour The Limited facility," she said.
It’s simple: when your employees aren’t engaged, they aren’t productive. They may even begin to explore outside opportunities if they sense that their current role with your company isn’t — and isn’t about to become — fulfilling.
At VolunteerMatch, we believe in harnessing the power of technology to make it easier for good people and good causes to connect. And we are not alone.
Like all successful nonprofits, we depend on the generosity and support of our community. Given our passion for technology, we are particularly grateful for opportunities to partner with the tech community to bring world-class solutions to the nonprofit sector.
