Firm Signs onto White House’s American Business Act on Climate Pledge in Lead Up to COP21

Continuing its leadership in corporate social responsibility (CSR) and carbon reduction, BNY Mellon has been named to CDP's global Climate “A” List for climate performance leadership and its S&P Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI). For the third consecutive year, BNY Mellon has received perfect scores on both climate change disclosure and performance. The company's "A" for performance and score of 100 for disclosure make it the only financial institution globally and one of two S&P 500 companies to receive a perfect score for the past three years.

Monsanto Joins the American Business Act on Climate Pledge

Today, the White House announced new commitments from companies that are joining the American Business Act on Climate Pledge. With this announcement, Monsanto joins 80 other companies that have signed the American Business Act on Climate Pledge to demonstrate their support for action on climate change and “the conclusion of a climate change agreement in Paris that takes a strong step forward toward a low-carbon, sustainable future.”

The Act, led by the White House, is a new commitment to climate action and aims to rally business, government, academic, technical and scientific communities to tackle climate change in the US and on a global scale.

Mars’ pledge includes commitments to achieve zero waste to landfill across all its sites by 2015 and eliminate 100% of GHG emissions from across its global operations by 2040.

Unilever was asked to present at the first-ever “White House Demo Day” in August 2015. The event was comprised of more than 80 start-up founders and entrepreneurs from across the nation, who were asked to ‘demo’ stories about their individual innovation journeys.

As part of the initiative, The Department of Commerce also invited multi-national corporations, including Unilever, to present a technical innovation challenge to attendees.
