United Wind installing more than 50 distributed wind turbines to power Smithfield farms in Colorado
BROOKLYN, N.Y., March 21, 2019 /3BL Media/-- United Wind, the nation's leading distributed wind energy developer, announced today it has signed an agreement with Smithfield Foods, Inc., a global food company and the world's largest hog producer and pork processor, to power dozens of Smithfield hog farms in Colorado with on-site wind energy.

A recent article in Bloomberg New Energy Finance predicts that two-thirds of the world’s power will be generated by renewable resources by the year 2050. This projection is based on the continuing growth of new renewable power generation projects, primarily wind and solar, over the next thirty-plus years. Conditions have certainly changed since New Alternatives Fund entered the investment world in September 1982.

As one of the world’s largest companies, we know that how we source our energy is important. That’s why AT&T has been working across our company and the industry on renewable energy projects that deliver for both our business and the environment.
Energy Provider’s Third Wind Project Adds 44 Megawatts of Renewable Energy – Enough to Serve 17,000 Residents
CARO, Mich., January 4, 2018 /3BL Media/ – Consumers Energy announced today that Cross Winds® Energy Park II in Tuscola County’s Columbia Township began serving customers and contributing 44 megawatts of renewable energy in Michigan.
BENTON HARBOR, Mich., Nov. 15, 2017 /3BL Media/ - Whirlpool Corporation today announced plans for three wind turbines to power its manufacturing facility in Greenville, Ohio and further build on the company's 46-year commitment to sustainable manufacturing.
The energy future we envision requires involvement from all our approximately 8,500 full-time employees (as of Dec. 31, 2016). Providing a sustainable work environment helps us align our actions with our core values, vision and mission. This means providing a workplace that allows our employees to execute at the highest levels and return home safely to their loved ones. It means actively engaging in our communities and supporting our partners. It means investing in our colleagues and supporting causes and organizations in which we believe.
In 2015, over twice as much money was spent on renewable energy than coal and gas power combined. Despite record levels of investment and sharply falling prices for solar, wind, and hydropower energy, eighty percent of the world’s energy consumption still comes from fossil fuels.
Whirlpool Corp. started construction today on three wind turbines to help power its Marion, Ohio manufacturing facility.
The three turbines will deliver wind generated power directly to the plant and when fully completed, are expected to provide approximately 19 percent of the total power consumption of the facility, the company said.
Last June Whirlpool Corporation broke ground on a wind farm near our Findlay, Ohio dishwasher plant and today it is fully operational. Through clean, renewable energy the turbines are expected to offset more than 20% of our on-site electricity consumption.
Earth Day is an annual celebration of the environmental movement—an earnest reminder to take stock of our progress, celebrate our successes, and lament our losses.
Many people take time on birthdays and holidays to reflect on the year gone by. As a dedicated environmentalist, Earth Day is a benchmark for me—a moment in time to pause and think critically about the headway we’ve made and setbacks we’ve experienced in our quest for sustainability.
