Carnival Among Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality, Report Says

Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2015 Corporate Equality Index is the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees.

A report from the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) gave several South Florida-based companies perfect scores in its 2015 Corporate Equality Index this week.

The assessment rated 781 U.S. companies on the equality of their employment opportunities, employment benefits, LGBT competency and public commitment to LGBT-specific efforts like marketing to LGBT consumers. Points were deducted if the company had any known activity that was seen as anti-LGBT in recent public records.

About 366 companies earned a top score of 100 percent and were named by the HRC as the "Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality. The top-rated firms included some South Florida-based companies:

  • Carnival Corp., based in Miami, scored 100 percent.
  • Royal Caribbean Cruises, based in Miami, scored 100 percent.
  • Office Depot, Inc., based in Boca Raton, scored 100 percent.
  • Jarden Corp., based in Boca Raton, scored 100 percent.
  • Ackerman, with offices in Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Palm Beach and West Palm Beach, scored 100 percent.
  • Carlton Fields Jorden Burt, with offices in Miami and West Palm Beach, scored 100 percent.
