As Booz Allen Lead Associate Ashely Fagan manages three contracts with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and oversees 75 employees, he wears a lanyard with his security badge—and a Pride pin.

On October 11, which is National Coming Out Day, and every day, “I always feel that I can bring my true self to work,” Fagan said.

GLOBE: A 20-year-old network with a lasting impact

Fagan has worked at Booz Allen’s McLean, VA office for 12 years in a variety of roles within national security. During much of this time, he’s been an active member of GLOBE, Booz Allen’s LGBTQ+ employee business resource group, which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary.

Being involved in GLOBE has exposed him to different areas of business and helped him make greater connections firmwide, he said. “It’s enriched my professional experience and friendships across the firm.”

Through GLOBE-hosted leadership panels where LGBTQ+ partners speak to employees, he’s also found great mentors. “They’ve helped me navigate my career.”

Creating an inclusive space for all

Fagan, who’s also a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, believes in paying this support forward by helping others build their careers. “Diversity––the LGBTQ+ community and beyond that––is one of the things I look for and consider as I’m growing teams.”

“It’s amazing how we’re all connected across the community,” he said, citing Booz Allen’s “environment of inclusivity promoted from the top down.”

“My team and leadership have always been super supportive,” he said.
