The World Business Council for Sustainable Development aims to eliminate waste completely by 2050. It's a tall order that requires aggressive incremental goals if it's to be achieved.  The proposed goals are a tall order: closed-loop design and zero waste to landfill are both slated for completion by 2020.  The winter meeting of the United States Business Council for Sustainable Development took place earlier this month in Austin, Texas.  It kicked off with a vision—Vision 2050, to be exact.

Vision 2050 is the creation of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), United States Business Council for Sustainable Development's (US BCSD's) global counterpart, and its materials component aims to eliminate waste completely by 2050.  The proposed goals are a tall order: closed-loop design and zero waste to landfill are both slated for completion by 2020.  With less than seven years to go, the pace of change needs to increase rapidly to meet these objectives.
