Sands Cares Donates $100,000 to HELP of Southern Nevada’s Shannon West Homeless Youth Center

Las Vegas Sands’ global corporate giving program, Sands Cares, donated $100,000 to HELP of Southern Nevada’s Shannon West Homeless Youth Center to provide 1,807 nights of shelter for at-risk youth, and the opportunity to name five rooms on the first floor of the center after Sands Cares.

President and CEO of HELP of Southern Nevada, Fuilala Riley, accepted the check from Stephanie Stanton, director of Sands Cares operations for The Venetian Resort, alongside a team of volunteers from the landmark Las Vegas resort on April 18, 2019.

HELP of Southern Nevada's Shannon West Homeless Youth Center provides services for at-risk youth that are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. The Youth Center motivates residents towards reaching self-sufficiency by providing the training and skills to further their education, employment, social and life skills. The residential and day programming also enables youth to learn skills necessary to succeed as adults in the real world.

By collaborating with a number of agencies, we have the resources to provide the following services on site: intensive case management, substance abuse counseling, mental health referrals, educational assessment, vocational training, and life skills groups focusing on a variety of issues such as anger management, independent living, money management, peer socialization, consumer and problem solving skills, and health education. 

HELP of Southern Nevada serves tens of thousands of unduplicated clients each year and provides assist low-income families, homeless teens, and adults among other individuals, to become more self-sufficient through direct services, pieces of training, and referrals.
