The 2020 California wildfire season brought unprecedented destruction. According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), California experienced 9,639 fires, burning more than 4 million acres of land. These statistics not only beat the previous year (6,872 fires and 1.4 million acres burned), but also the 5-year average, which sits at 5,674 fires and 446,052 acres burned.

This year’s annual U.S. Pro Bono Summit Corporate Day moved to the digital space, where leaders from across sectors gathered to reflect on the challenges of 2020 and the ways in which pro bono can help in response.
