Action Team: Throwback Thursday Edition
Each year an increasing number of high school students across the U.S. are joining the Action Team national youth volunteer program. When they join the Action Team, they’re joining a team that’s 50,000 strong, and one that includes Major League baseball players and students from Maine to Maui and points in between.
For over 10 years the Action Team Captains have been making a positive impact in their communities through a variety of activities, including neighborhood cleanups, volunteering at senior centers, and hosting other charitable efforts.
Today we are throwing it back to the 2006 Philadelphia Action Team who met with Philadelphia Phillies player Jimmy Rollins and then Phillies player Shane Victorino to talk about the Action Team and their volunteer experiences. #JoinOurTeam

ABOUT THE ACTION TEAM
In 2003, the Major League Baseball Players Trust and Volunteers of America created the Action Team National Youth Volunteer Program to recruit and train high school students to become volunteers in their communities. Major Leaguers help inspire and encourage high school students to serve as Action Team Captains, who in turn deliver an important message to their peers: volunteering is cool, fun and personally rewarding.
