Diageo & Crown Royal Relief Efforts for Alberta Wildfire Victims

May 13, 2016 12:10 PM ET

The Canadian province of Alberta is currently facing one of the worst natural disasters in recent years, as they battle wildfires that span 400,000 acres, and are expected to burn for months. The fires continue to devastate the area.

Diageo and Crown Royal have mobilized efforts to bring some relief to those in the affected area. Earlier this week, with help from partners at the Bridge Foundation and Wirtz Beverage Canada, Diageo and Crown Royal were able to deliver 40,000 bottles of water to the Fort McMurray Fire Department Relief Center. Additionally, Crown Royal has committed to match the first $50,000 of donations made to the Alberta Food Banks, and has launched a social media campaign through Facebook and Instagram to encourage their communities to contribute. Crown Royal’s Canadian roots date back to the brand's conception there in 1939.  To this day, every drop of Crown Royal whisky is made in Canada.
