Zurich Helps Boy Scouts of America Achieve Merit Badges

Through Zurich’s “100 Ways” program, the company helped the Boy Scouts of America Troop #422 understand the importance of their merit badges.

Zurich in North America participated in a community service project with the Boy Scouts of America Cub Scout Troop #422 based in New York City. In honor of the company’s 100-year anniversary and as part of the “100 Ways” volunteer program, Zurich employees wanted to help Troop #422, comprised of seventy 7-10 year olds, understand how their merit badges are applicable in the corporate world.

Since scouts can earn merit badges for various achievements like woodworking, American business and American labor, the boys, along with their parents and Zurich employees, helped refinish 500 pieces of pre-cut wood so they could beused as part of Zurich’s “Navigate to YES!”award program. This program awards employees with a compass attached to a wooden base as a sales reward.

Six months later, five members of Zurich’s Global Corporate in North America (GCiNA) Customer, Distribution and Marketing team attended another Troop #422 meeting to show the scouts the result of their hard work. The employees gave a presentation with photos of employees receiving their awards and explained how the Zurich program rewards employees in a way that is similar to the Boy Scout of America merit badges.
