2011 Global Food Security Forum

(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) May 27, 2011 - The ONE Campaign has revealed that food prices rose very quickly between June 2010 and February 2011, pushing an additional 44 million people into poverty. Corn and wheat, which are fundamental to the diets of poor people in developing countries, now cost almost what they did in the 2008 food price crisis.

For the world's poor -- consisting largely of smallholder farmers who spend on average 60 to 80% of their incomes on food -- high food prices mean mounting poverty and greater hardship.

This forum will highlight how the private sector, in partnership with other organizations, is implementing programs that go beyond philanthropic models to increase farmer crop yield, provide farmers access to international markets, and increase nutritional content value found in common foods.  Register now!
