Feb 3, 2014 7:35 PM ET

WATERFORD, N.Y., Feb. 3, 2014 /3BL Media/ - Cascades Tissue Group announced today that its Cascades® Antibacterial™ paper towel has been designated an “Innovative Technology” by Novation, the leading health care supply chain expertise, analytics and contracting company for members and affiliates of VHA Inc., University HealthSystem Consortium, Children’s Hospital Association, and Provista.

Only provided to a small portion of products on existing contract through Novation, this designation identifies the Cascades Antibacterial paper towel as instrumental to improving patient care. As part of the recent Novation Innovative Technology Expo, the Cascades Antibacterial paper towel was thoroughly evaluated and reviewed by hospital member-led councils and was found to have an incremental benefit over other products that improve patient care or reduce the risk of harm to patients and care givers.

“Novation has been a great partner for Cascades,” said Suzanne Blanchet, CEO of Cascades Tissue Group. “We are honored that Cascades Antibacterial paper towel’s value to improve patient care and infection control is being recognized.”

Cascades Antibacterial paper towel provides a simple and effective way to further reduce bacterial contamination and transmission. Unlike ordinary paper towels, when the Cascades Antibacterial paper towel comes into contact with the water on your hands as you dry them, it releases an active ingredient that kills over 99.99% of harmful bacteria, based on 3rd party laboratory testing. This innovative towel can fit anywhere and doesn’t require additional steps or change in habits. Since its launch in 2012, it won numerous renowned accolades, including a Gold medal from the Edison Awards for its innovative nature.

“We are pleased to recognize products already on contract that meet the strenuous hospital member-based requirements to be considered through the Innovative Technology program,” said Debbie Archer, director, procurement and innovative technology, Novation.
