BOSTON, Mass., November 21, 2016 /3BL Media/ – CITGO Petroleum Corporation, along with its local New England area Marketers, SEI Fuels, Global Partners and Tradewinds, raised $20,000 during the months of July through October for the Red Sox Foundation. Through the CITGO Red Sox-branded spirit pump initiative and other various CITGO station fundraising activities in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine, the funds raised will benefit research, youth programs, scholarships and local community support for the Foundation.

During the spirit pump initiative, Red Sox fans and CITGO customers stopped by the designated gas stations to fill up their tank at the Red Sox- branded gas pump where a portion of their fuel purchase was donated directly to the Red Sox Foundation. Customers also made donations through “Fuel Change” donation boxes or received a one-of-a-kind Red Sox Foundation baseball mobile at the register by donating $1 or $5 to support the organization.

CITGO and its partners will be presenting a check to the Red Sox Foundation on December 9 at the organization’s annual Holiday Party at Fenway Park.

“We’re so appreciative that CITGO and its Marketers chose to support and be champions of our Foundation,” said Gena Borson, Executive Director of the Red Sox Foundation. “We are equally grateful for the local community members who donated and utilized the spirit pumps to help provide opportunities for children and families through our health, recreational, educational and social service enrichment programs.”

“From the CITGO sign shining brightly over Fenway Park to all the CITGO stations owned and operated by CITGO Marketers and Retailers across New England, we greatly value our customers and enjoy sharing Red Sox pride with the community,” said Alan Flagg, CITGO Assistant Vice President of Supply and Marketing. “We are pleased with the success of the 2016 Red Sox Foundation Spirit Pump initiative and look forward to continuing to fuel good not just in New England communities, but wherever CITGO operates.”
