CITGO Lemont Refinery Awards STEM Scholarships
LEMONT, Ill., July 11, 2017 /3BL Media/ - Each year, as a part of the CITGO STEM Talent Pipeline Program, the Lemont Refinery gives back to the community by awarding college scholarships to deserving high school students at each of the three area highs schools---Lemont, Romeoville, and Lockport Township.
In order to be considered, applicants must show interest in pursuing a degree in a STEM-related discipline (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics), be in good academic standing, and demonstrate leadership abilities.
The following students are the 2017 CITGO STEM Talent Pipeline scholarship recipients:

The CITGO STEM Talent Pipeline program partners with educational organizations near the company's operational areas to increase access to STEM educational opportunities. The program promotes the importance of STEM education in the socio-economic development of our communities and highlights the numerous pathways to rewarding careers, including those in the energy industry. It provides grants to schools and educational organizations to support programs that increase student interest, retention and graduation rates – particularly at the high school and post-secondary levels – and those that prepare students for STEM technical and university level curriculum. The program also provides scholarships for students pursuing higher degrees in STEM fields. Already the CITGO STEM Talent Pipeline has benefited more than 3,000 students and 300 educators across the CITGO operational footprint, strengthening the communities where the company has a presence.
