CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas, March 6, 2018 /3BL Media/ – The CITGO Corpus Christi Refinery proudly accepted the Partner of the Year award at a Partner Appreciation ceremony, presented by the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Bend on the evening of Feb. 22. The Partner of the Year honoree is selected based on overall commitment to the organization in the prior year. In addition to CITGO, other award recipients joined Boys & Girls Club board members at the event.

Since 2001, the CITGO Corpus Christi Refinery has contributed to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Bend monetarily—through sponsorships and donations—as well as through volunteer support for events, such as the Thanksgiving Dinner for Club families and members. The most recent contribution to the Club was funding for the CITGO Technology Center, part of the new Teen Room at the Corpus Christi Boys & Girls Club.

“The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Bend is excited to partner with CITGO on the Technology Center for our new Teen Room,” said Kim Barrientos, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Bend. “Through the generosity of CITGO, the Technology Center will provide an amazing opportunity for our teens to expand their knowledge and skills and ensure that the youth we serve are prepared for the technology-based world we live in today. This opportunity would not have been possible without the remarkable partnership we have with CITGO.”

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Bend held a community ribbon cutting ceremony for the Teen Room and CITGO Technology Center on Thursday, Feb. 22, at the Corpus Christi Greenwood location.

“At CITGO, we’re thrilled to support organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club, because they provide students with a safe, after-school environment. They do an excellent job of providing activities for all ages,” said Art Klein, VP and General Manager of the Corpus Christi Refinery. “The CITGO Technology Center adds a layer of experience, so that the children are not only safe and physically active, but they also have the opportunity to continue learning and honing their technology skills, in turn, preparing them for higher learning.”
