Corporate EHS & Sustainability Leaders to Participate in Platte River Cleanup in Denver for 2016 NAEM Day of Service

October 11, 2016 /3BL Media/ - When NAEM joins the Greenway Foundation for a cleanup along the South Fork of the Platte River in downtown Denver later this month, its efforts will be powered by environmental, safety and sustainability leaders from companies such as Toyota Motor North America Inc., Procter & Gamble Co., Lockheed Martin Corp., Bose Corp. and The WhiteWave Foods Co.

Executive Director Carol Singer Neuvelt said the association’s annual Day of Service is an opportunity for members to put their passion for the natural world to work for a local community.

“Our members are values-oriented leaders who are committed to advancing environmental sustainability,” she said. “This type of event embodies what NAEM is all about: protecting natural resources, leadership through action and building a strong community of professionals who together can drive change.”

On October 25, more than 50 volunteers will participate in a cleanup along Cherry Creek, the South Fork of the Platte River. The community service project is part of NAEM’s 2016 EHS & Sustainability Management Forum, which will be held at the Sheraton Denver Downtown from October 26-28. NAEM’s Forum is the largest annual conference for corporate EHS&S decision makers.

Following the afternoon of service, the Antea Group will host a networking reception for volunteers at the historic Tivoli Brewery Company, the oldest brewery in the state of Colorado.

Nick Martin, Senior Consultant and Sustainability Practice Leader with Antea Group, said the company’s support of the service project is an extension of its core values.

“We believe that doing the right thing environmentally and socially will improve our competitive position long-term,” Mr. Martin said. “This influences not only the work we do for our clients every day, but also how we engage in our communities and the way we connect with our employees.”

Eleven employees from the Antea Group will also participate in the Day of Service, Mr. Martin said.

Among those also rolling up their sleeves will be a 13-person group from WhiteWave Foods, which is celebrating its annual ‘Share What We Do Well’ month in October.

“We strive to create positive change in the communities where we live and work,” said Sarah Kaiman, an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist with the Denver-based food company. “Volunteer service is embedded in our CSR strategy of Empowering Employees to build strong communities.”

Since 2013, Ms. Kaiman said WhiteWave employees have volunteered 11,000 hours for more than 30 nonprofit organizations nationwide.

“Our employees’ passion and commitment to serve has been inspiring, and has made a significant, positive impact on our communities,” she said.
