KINGSPORT, Tenn., July 10, 2015 /3BL Media/ - Eastman and the DM Thomas Foundation for Young People (DMTFYP) celebrate the launch of “Ducks for Change: River Dash,” an interactive mobile application game in support of the Ducks for Change initiative.

Ducks for Change is a fundraising campaign through the DM Thomas Foundation for Young People, featuring a variety of novelty toy ducks made with Eastman 168™ non-phthalate plasticizer. The launch event, held at Frank Barnes School for Deaf Children, included the introduction of a new duck designed by a student from the school as part of a contest sponsored by the Foundation. During the event, students had an opportunity to play the game and celebrate the new duck with their classmates.

“When we launched the first set of ducks in 2010, we had no idea just how popular they would become!” said Simon Sheehan, Director of DMTFYP. “Five years later, we have created a wide range of different ducks and sold thousands of boxes around Europe. We knew it was time for the ducks to take the next step, and a mobile game that would allow our duck fans to interact with their favourite characters seemed like the perfect choice.”

The Eastman and the Foundation relationship started in 2013, and has evolved to include product supply, marketing support and collaboration to create the new app. Ducks for Change: River Dash is the first in a series of mobile games to be developed through the collaboration. Each game will feature Ducks for Change characters as they go on a variety of adventures.

“We have been working with the DM Thomas Foundation for Young People over the past two years to not only create the novelty ducks using Eastman 168™ plasticizer, but also to develop a strategic relationship that we believe has a collective impact for both organisations as well as the charities that benefit from the Ducks for Change proceeds,” said Godefroy Motte, Senior Vice President and Chief Regional and Sustainability Officer. “Launching the fun and cheeky range of novelty ducks with the students of the Frank Barnes School for Deaf Children was an amazing experience. This is where we measure the impact of our commitment to the wellbeing of our employees and the communities where we work and live.”

Ducks for Change: River Dash is available for a free download through the iTunes App Store and the GooglePlay store.

About DM Thomas Foundation for Young People

DM Thomas Foundation for Young People (formerly known as Hilton in the Community Foundation) was founded in 2000, dedicated to supporting young people in need by combating exclusion and providing skills, aspirations and opportunities. Focused on improving access to, and the quality of, education and care, the Foundation mobilises local giving and targets four key areas: disabled children, children in hospitals, children's hospices and homelessness. Grants help vulnerable and disadvantaged young people in the UK and Europe. Donations are funded almost entirely through the generous efforts and contributions of the community. Since its establishment in November 2000 the Foundation has raised over £15 million for charity. dmthomasfoundation.org

About Ducks for Change

Ducks for Change are our fun and cheeky range of novelty ducks, sold in participating Hilton Worldwide hotels around Europe to raise money for our charitable grants. Ducks for Change started out as a small experimental range in 2010 at one Hilton hotel in Belgium. They proved to be so popular with the guests and hotel staff that DMTFYP has developed them into a full fundraising campaign. Managed and administered through our trading arm the duck family has grown a lot in a just few years.

Ducks for Change are sold in themed sets of three; you can buy intrepid emergency service ducks, fairytale characters, festival-goers and much more! In keeping with the ethos of the Foundation many of our ducks reflect aspirational career choices for young people such as our chef, fire fighter and pilot ducks. The sets are sold for £5 or €6, with at least £1 or €1 going to charitable courses (this is once production costs, VAT and transport costs have been deducted).

To date we have sold over 190,000 sets of ducks and the money raised from sales has contributed to over 100 grants awarded by the Foundation across Europe to support projects such as providing therapy to premature babies and infants with congenital damage and training assistance dog training for young people with disabilities. As well as supporting such wonderful causes, the ducks are very popular with guests and new ranges are always in development.
