STAMFORD, Conn., May 7, 2020 /3BL Media/ – Keep America Beautiful®, the nation’s leading community improvement nonprofit organization, is accepting applications for its 2020-2021 National Youth Advisory Council (YAC) through Friday, July 10, 2020.

The YAC program provides a unique opportunity for the 20 selected high school students from diverse backgrounds across the nation to participate in service learning and leadership development. Participants will contribute to and inform Keep America Beautiful on programs, while acting as ambassadors and leaders for youth service in their communities.

“Keep America Beautiful is excited to infuse the voice of high school students into our programs and build on the model of youth leadership seen in our local and state affiliates,” said Keep America Beautiful President and CEO Helen Lowman. “All participants will have the benefit of serving with the Youth Advisory Council network and implement personal service-learning projects within their communities.”

The YAC program provides students with the opportunity to:

  • Engage in creative work with a nonprofit organization focused on litter prevention, beautification and community greening, and waste reduction and recycling
  • Partner with students with unique perspectives from across the country
  • Act as service-learning ambassadors in their communities and states by playing a leadership role in engaging youth in service and service-learning

The 2020 YAC highlighted their passions and projects in this Global Youth Service Day video in April. Global Youth Service Day is the largest youth service and civic action event in the world that celebrates and builds the capacity of all youth, ages 5-25, to help our communities and democracy thrive by working together for the common good.
