Waltham, Mass., June 26, 2015 /3BL Media/ – National Grid  issued a statement today in acknowledgment of the Supreme Court ruling that the Constitution guarantees a right to same-sex marriage. In a 5 to 4 decision, Justice Anthony M. Kennedy wrote the majority opinion, stating that gay and lesbian couples had a fundamental right to marry.

Seavers added that National Grid has long been committed to creating policies on diversity and inclusion. The company provides same sex domestic partner benefits, covers sexual orientation and gender identity in its Equal Employment Opportunity policies and supports an employee resource group called PRIDE through which the company's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) employees host meetings, provide community outreach and serve as a resource to the company and its employees.
