In partnership with Unilever, Net Impact is excited to announce that the Santa Clara University Net Impact team has advanced to the world Unigame finals in London. UniGame is the annual competition in which Unilever, one of the world’s largest producers of consumer products with a portfolio spanning 400 brands, asks university students for proposals to help address identified business needs.

In total Unilever received 162 submissions with 91 of those submissions coming from Net Impact. The top three teams in the North American finals consisted of Net Impact members. Santa Clara University took home first prize with their idea, #Snap2Save and won $7,000 and a trip to London to compete in the world finals with a chance to win a grand prize trip to One Young World in Bogota, Columbia.

Texas State University and their idea titled, Texas State, was awarded second place and received $5,000 while team Digital Derma, also from Santa Clara University, came in third, receiving $3,000.

“We are so proud of what our Net Impact teams have been able to achieve in the Unigame competition,” says Liz Maw, CEO, Net Impact. “We applaud these students for leveraging their talents and passions to design a business solution with an eye towards scaling for impact.”

During the competition, videos were submitted to Unilever and evaluated by a committee of Unilever employees.  Unilever chose five overall winners as well as one winner from each partner organization: Enactus, Net Impact and the Jackie Robinson Foundation, and one popular vote winner to complete the top 10 finalists.

Teams then flew to New York City with lodging in Times Square. The North American Finals were judged by Rob Candelino, VP Hair Care, Alice Kim, Director, Strategy & CEO Support, Jonathan Atwood VP, Sustainable Business and Communications & Mita Mallick Director, Diversity & Inclusion. The top three teams all came from Net Impact.

Next, the Santa Clara University team will travel to London to compete in the global finals for Unigame.
