LINCOLN, Neb., July 17, 2020 /3BL Media/ – Procter and Gamble, one of the nation’s leading consumer goods companies, has amplified its commitment to tree planting by joining the Arbor Day Foundation’s Evergreen Alliance. The newest member of the Evergreen Alliance, Procter and Gamble joins 17 additional world-class companies in driving action and awareness around tree planting as a critical tool to solve society’s most pressing issues. Spurred by the company’s recent pledge to achieve carbon-neutral operations for the decade, this announcement builds on P&G’s existing support for the Arbor Day Foundation’s wildfire restoration work in California from Family Care brands including Bounty, Charmin and Puffs.

“We are thrilled to welcome Procter & Gamble into the Evergreen Alliance,” said Dan Lambe, president of the Arbor Day Foundation. “This dedicated group of corporate partners realizes that trees are critical to maintaining balance on our planet, and that by coming together we can make a far greater impact than any single organization on its own.”

The Evergreen Alliance is a community of leaders driving innovation, discovery, and action in the Foundation’s work to plant trees, engage tree planters, and elevate awareness of the value of natural and community forests. Members serve as ambassadors for the Foundation’s Time for TreesTM initiative, which aims to plant 100 million trees and inspire 5 million tree planters by 2022. In addition to providing critical funding for Time for Trees, Evergreen Alliance members spearhead tree-planting programs and educational campaigns to drive consumer awareness and action, particularly among their own global employees.

“It’s promising to see the commitment of so many businesses coming together to protect our planet,” said Jack McAneny, Vice President, Global Sustainability, P&G. “The next decade presents a critical window to work together, raise awareness and leverage the power of nature to ensure a healthy planet for present and future generations.”

Established in 2019, the Alliance collectively planted millions of trees in its first year, supporting high-impact planting projects across 38 U.S. states and territories and 22 countries. Additional members of the Evergreen Alliance include: Bank of America, Bass Pro Shops & Cabela's, Brambles | CHEP, Church & Dwight, Exelon, FedEx, The Hershey Company, International Paper, Marriott International, Mary Kay, Oncor, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Target, TD Bank, UPS, Verizon and Wyndham Destinations.

Procter and Gamble has partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation since 2019, when Family Care signed on as the lead supporter for the Foundation’s wildfire restoration efforts in Northern California. To date, Family Care has planted 50,000 trees which will help restore California’s critical forest ecosystem as well as prevent continuing challenges such as mudslides and degraded soil, water and air quality. P&G is also planting 25,000 trees in Saxony, Germany, where many forests have been affected by storms, drought and beetle infestation in recent years.
