Statement From IWBI on the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021

The following is a statement on the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 from Rachel Hodgdon, President and CEO, International WELL Building Institute (IWBI):

New York, November 19, 2021 /3BLMedia/ - With a group of bipartisan lawmakers by his side, President Joe Biden signed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 into law on Monday during a signing ceremony at the White House. The new law contains an historic, once-in-a-generation investment of $1.2 trillion for the nation’s physical infrastructure.

We applaud both the President and Congress for taking bipartisan action for the bill’s passage, as well as for the inclusion of new investments to support infrastructure improvements designed to help advance health and well-being in buildings.

While we are pleased with the initial investment, there is still more work to be done. It is critical that Congress pass the Build Back Better Act, which will allocate an additional $1.7 trillion for human infrastructure, including various provisions that would help support important aspects of the full-spectrum healthy building, people-first places agenda.

This momentous investment in our country’s infrastructure will allow us to become more resilient in the face of escalating threats of an already changing climate and ongoing public health crises, an effort that will provide more and better next-generation jobs that can help stabilize families and open new pathways for future prosperity.
