October 19, 2012 /3BL Media/ - Villanova University announces that they will be using Greener Products: the Making and Marketing of Sustainable Brands (CRC Press, November 2011; ISBN 978-1-4398-5431-0) by Al Iannuzzi as a text book starting this fall as part of their Master of Science in Sustainable Engineering program. http://iannuzzigp.wordpress.com/.

As the global demand for more sustainable products continues to grow, making and marketing greener products is becoming an imperative. The old stereotype of green products’ sub-par performance has been shattered as large multinational cor¬porations prove that you can develop and win in the marketplace with a lower impact and naturals-based product platform. And the pull for sustainably minded products is not limited to consumer marketing—business-to-business marketing of greener products has also increased due to customer demand from all business sectors.

Using case study and making a compelling business case for why companies must provide greener, more sustainable products, Greener Products: The Making and Marketing of Sustainable Brands shares best practices for the design and marketing of greener products. The book examines ecosystem and regulatory pressures as well as market pressures from customers—consumers, business customers, and government purchasers—who have created a demand on manufacturers to bring more sustainable brands to market.

“I selected Greener Products for the Advanced Life Cycle Assessment and Introduction to Sustainable Product Development Class since it provides a comprehensive overview of the business case for greener products, real life examples of greener product design and effective green marketing strategies. It is important for students to understand the significance, and immediate need, for making more sustainable products, and this book provides excellent information on current market activities in the global marketplace.” Tad Radzinski, P.E., LEED A.P., SFP, President, Sustainable Solutions Corporation, Adjunct Professor Villanova University, Department of Sustainable Engineering.

Villanova University is one of the first to offer a Master of Science degree in Sustainable Engineering. Embracing Greener Products will assist in building on the momentum of this exciting degree program. http://www1.villanova.edu/villanova/engineering/academics/graduate/interdis/sustaimability.html

The degree program provides students experiences with using life cycle assessment (LCA) to understand and quantify the environmental impacts of products as well as use this information to reduce the impacts as part of a sustainable product design or product stewardship process.
