DALLAS, June 27, 2017 /3BL Media/ – The Texas Diversity Council is proud to announce the 2017 Greater Dallas Healthcare Diversity Summit that will be held July 11, 2017. The event will be hosted by long-time corporate partner, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, for the 5th consecutive year. Attendees will gain knowledge and advice from some of the top leaders in the healthcare field. The theme of this year’s summit is “Diversity in Healthcare: It’s Time for Action.”

“This Summit is a great place for Texas’ leading healthcare professionals to create dialogue that fosters improvements to diversity in their field.” said Angeles Valenciano, Chief Executive Officer of the National Diversity Council. “True progression begins with sharing our experiences and encouraging one another to implement the lessons we have learned along the way.”

The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. with registration, breakfast, and networking. Following a warm welcome from UT Southwestern Medical Center, the Featured Speaker, John Carlo, CEO of Prism Health North Texas and President, Dallas County Medical Society, will share remarks and his insight relative to healthcare in the LGBT community.  In addition, an expert panel of healthcare executives will lead discussions covering topics such as “Best Practices in LGBT Patient Care,” “Leveraging Data & Engaging Partners,” and “Increasing Diversity in Healthcare Governance &Leadership.” Posing questions that challenge traditional approaches will encourage attendees to think critically and discover effective ways to enhance diversity plans within their organizations. Participants will have the opportunity to share additional thoughts during an open question and answer session following the panel discussion.

“Our healthcare landscape is constantly evolving and our communities are becoming more multicultural by the day,” said Kimel Hodges, Assistant Vice President for Diversity & Inclusion and Equal Opportunity at UT Southwestern. “We must adapt new ways of doing things to deliver appropriate care and eliminate disparities across our communities. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Council, providing a platform for tough conversations, knowledge sharing and alliances that will accelerate these efforts.”
