NORTHBROOK, IL, June 9, 2014 /3BL Media/– Today, The Allstate Foundation announced a unique program to develop the next generation of nonprofit leaders called Greater Good. Sixteen nonprofit leaders joined the program as a part of a year-long professional development opportunity that kicked off at Northwestern University’s Chicago campus with a three-day development and training session.

Greater Good is a partnership between The Allstate Foundation and Northwestern University’s Kellogg Center for Nonprofit Management. The participants represent a diverse set of nonprofit organizations from across Chicago and the country. Each of the participants has more than 10 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, and has been identified a leader within their organization.

“Having met the Greater Good participants, I’ve seen the passion they have for creating social change,” said Vicky Dinges, senior vice president of corporate responsibility at Allstate. “The Allstate Foundation firmly believes serving the nonprofit sector is not merely about making grants to organizations, but taking a holistic approach to create impact. By providing Allstate volunteers, board members, strategic counsel and opportunities like this one; we hope to positively affect our community partners and the people they serve.”

Greater Good participants will receive access to leadership coaches and development opportunities specifically tailored to their needs, and receive a stipend to attend opportunities above and beyond those offered through the program. Each participant will go through a 360-degree leadership assessment to create their individual professional development plan and identify skill gaps.

“The Allstate Foundation is one of only a handful of corporate funders providing intensive development opportunities for nonprofit leaders,” Liz Livingston Howard, director of nonprofit executive education. “Greater Good aligns perfectly with the Center’s mission to create opportunity and greater capacity for nonprofits. From supporting domestic violence survivors to education on money management, it’s exciting to see such a diverse pool of leaders joining this new program.”

Additionally, the program will expose participants to experts in the fields of management, communication, technology and fundraising. In total, twelve in-person workshops will be facilitated by professors, faculty and experts affiliated with Northwestern University and Kellogg Executive Education during the program.
