ALEXANDRIA, VA, September 5, 2012 /3BL Media/ - The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) announced today that Deloitte has raised more than $1 million through the Corporate Team In Training program, helping to change the lives of more than one million Americans living with blood cancer. Since 2009, close to 400 Deloitte professionals have completed the program, achieving their goal of finishing a marathon, half marathon, century ride or triathlon, while raising funds to benefit the LLS mission: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. "Deloitte has been at the forefront of the Corporate Team In Training program, and as a result is the first organization to break the $1 million mark," said Chris Fenton, Vice President of Team In Training. "They've run, biked, and swam countless miles, and we are incredibly thankful for their support of our mission.

Robin Lineberger, chief executive office, Deloitte Federal Government Services, Deloitte Consulting LLP will accept an award recognizing the organization's accomplishments at The Nation's Triathlon Inspiration Dinner, on Saturday, September 8th at the Washington Hilton. Lineberger completed The Nation's Triathlon with Team In Training in 2010, and also served as the National Capital Area Chapter's Leukemia Ball Chair in 2012. LLS National Board Member, and current Leukemia Ball Chair Dr. James H. Davis, will present the award on behalf of LLS.

At Deloitte, we are honored to work with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to raise awareness for this important cause," said Lineberger. "Through the Team In Training program and other fundraising activities, the National Capital Area Chapter works tirelessly to provide invaluable funding for cancer research and patient services.  Deloitte is proud to support LLS, and we hope to continue the fight to help save lives for years to come.

Team In Training is the nation's largest and most successful sports training program for charity, having trained more than 520,000 individuals to complete a marathon, half marathon, century ride, triathlon or hike adventure since inception 24 years ago. Collectively, $1.32 billion has been raised for LLS's mission through the program. Teams are now forming for the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, ING Miami Marathon & Half Marathon, and the Herothon Half-Marathon, powered by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
