WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT NOW?
INCREASING ACCESS TO TELEHEALTH

The 40 innovators in software development, medical technology, and materials development who joined the Reimagining Community Health Systems Challenge tackled the lack of telehealth capabilities in lower-income communities in the U.S. This shortcoming has allowed problems related to mental health, diabetes and other preventable ailments to grow during a time when millions of people are avoiding physical visits with their doctors out of worry of being infected by the coronavirus.

That gap can seem daunting in areas of the country with little or no broadband access where many low-income patients do not own a smartphone—a daily reality faced by members of the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) and the Iowa Primary Care Association (PCA), the two Anchor Partners in the Challenge.

But after the six-week competition that ended in early September, the two winning teams have developed plans for NACHC and Iowa PCA to tackle their telehealth challenges. These plans will enable NACHC to become a more effective advocate and resource for the expansion of telehealth services in the U.S. and support the Iowa PCA to both form telehealth partnerships with private companies and non-profits and launch remote patient monitoring systems that enable early detection of disease.

Between noon and 1 p.m. EDT on Thursday, October 15, PYXERA Global CEO Deirdre White will discuss the winning solutions and plans for executing them with leaders from NACHC and Iowa PCA and members from the winning teams. Corporate participants joined the Challenge from Medtronic, a medical technology company; SAP, the world’s largest provider of enterprise application software; BD (Becton, Dickinson, and Company), another leading global medical technology company; and Celanese, a global chemical and specialty materials company.

Register now to join the conversation and learn how PYXERA Global can help your organization turn seemingly insurmountable problems exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic into solutions for a stronger future.
