By now everyone is familiar with the terrible death and destruction caused by Superstorm "Sandy" in the northeastern states of the USA and especially in the New York region. We're ten days past the storm and portions of the region are still without electric power; tens of thousands of residents find themselves homeless, their houses destroyed by Sandy's fierce winds and flooding, or temporarily uninhabitable because of storm-related damage.

When issue management can get very personal.  You've heard the headline expression before.  The cure/ailment equation can get very personal in our lives.  When our friend Ted began experiencing that nagging pain in his leg again -- especially when standing for a while -- he figured it was probably his sciatica nerve acting up again. After all, he’s 61, and not growing any younger! Moreover, he’s had the pain on and off for several years.

In the past several posts, we have defined Big Data, shown the problems we hope it will address, and described how CSRHub has implemented a Big Data approach to creating corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability ratings.  It is time now to discuss the benefits and drawbacks of the “Big Data” approach.

The assumption is that this approach offers many benefits which are not available under traditional analyst-based ratings methods:
