In an  article for Fortune today, Dan Mitchell opines that the clean tech industry could be headed for the cliff, so to speak, as federal stimulus spending runs out.  Mitchell’s take is that the industry is held afloat by government funding and this will need to continue in the near future until the “clean tech economy” can solely be driven by the private sector.

Corn and wheat, which are fundamental to the diets of poor people in developing countries, now cost almost what they did in the 2008 food price crisis.

For the world's poor -- consisting largely of smallholder farmers who spend on average 60 to 80% of their incomes on food -- high food prices mean mounting poverty and greater hardship.
