November 18, 2015 /3BL Media/ - When civil rights activist Bob Brown learned how many school children in Africa didn’t have access to school books, he set out to change the world – one book at a time. Brown’s International BookSmart Foundation has donated more than 5 million books to children throughout Africa.
August 19, 2015 /3BL Media/ - Members of Seabourn Legend’s Entertainment Team went ashore in St. John’s, Antigua, earlier this month with a breakspecial delivery for the Antigua Public Library: nearly 150 gently used books.
Cruise Director Aaron Syfert and Assistant Cruise Directors Meredith Tyler and David Delarre delivered the novels and non-fiction titles to Port Agent Mark Azille, who helped arrange the donation.
Thanks to the Seabourn Legend team for donating the books and helping to make a difference in the world.
In recognition of National Military Appreciation Month, my colleagues and I are participating in a virtual book drive for military families by donating to United Through Reading. United Through Reading is an organization that provides personalized videos of deployed parents reading stories to their children back home. Military children face big challenges, including frequent separation from their loved ones.

First 5 California volunteers host reading party for local elementary school students
February 26, 2015 /3BL Media/ - To further its mission to support the early childhood development of California’s young children, First 5 California is distributing 7,000 brand-new books to children between the ages of 0 and 5 to enhance reading programs and advance youth literacy in Sacramento, Oakland, and Los Angeles.

So, I was intrigued when I heard of Thatcher Wine who custom-tailors libraries from his workshop in Boulder, Colorado. Juniper Books, Wine’s studio, focuses on building tailored libraries, curating unique book sets and designing custom book covers.
Weir’s Furniture employees host special reading party at local elementary school
December 22, 2014 /3BL Media/ - Approximately 2,800 brand-new, age-appropriate books will make their way into the hands of kids from low-income families thanks to the nonprofit social enterprise First Book and Weir’s Furniture.
A special reading party was held on December 15 at Aikin Elementary School to kick off the partnership. After opening remarks, Weir’s furniture employees enjoyed reading to the students and a fun holiday-themed activity.

The Book Bus presented by Lowe’s and the Hornets Will Distribute New Books to Five Title I Schools in Charlotte
September 22, 2014 /3BL Media/ - In an effort to advance youth literacy in Charlotte, the Charlotte Hornets have partnered with the nonprofit social enterprise First Book, through CBS EcoMedia, to deliver brand-new, age-appropriate books to over four thousand students. The Book Bus will travel to five Title I schools in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System over the course of the week and distribute approximately 4,270 books to the school children.
