The Book Bus presented by Lowe’s and the Hornets Will Distribute New Books to Five Title I Schools in Charlotte

September 22, 2014 /3BL Media/ - In an effort to advance youth literacy in Charlotte, the Charlotte Hornets have partnered with the nonprofit social enterprise First Book, through CBS EcoMedia, to deliver brand-new, age-appropriate books to over four thousand students. The Book Bus will travel to five Title I schools in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System over the course of the week and distribute approximately 4,270 books to the school children.

Weston, WI, June 9, 2014 /3BL Media/ – As part of its national tour, mobile literacy program Bess the Book Bus stopped at the Callon Quik Mart CITGO station on May 10, delivering free books and helping promote childhood literacy by reading aloud to pre-K and kindergarten students in Weston. More than 1,000 free books were given to the children who participated in the event.

New Container Library Enhances Educational Opportunities for Children in Nairobi as Part of Children International’s Community Literacy Program

Building Reading Corners and providing them with books has become a traditional event for the HMH Orlando volunteers. HMH only began its journey and relationship with the Orlando Magic in 2012 and has already made significant impact - contributing over 8,000 books and assembling Reading Corners for children throughout Central Florida.
School children who attend the Detroit Public Library (DPL) have been in for a treat (literarily and literally) at the after school reading programs at DPL sites throughout the city. Besides words, they have been getting free nutritious snacks to help them concentrate better on the readings. The project is a partnership between DPL, Forgotten Harvest and The Chrysler Foundation.
