(NYSE: CMI) has provided a 20-megawatt PEM electrolyzer system to generate green hydrogen, making it the largest in operation in the world. The Cummins electrolyzer system is installed at the Air Liquide hydrogen production facility in Bécancour, Quebec. The Cummins PEM Electrolyzer can produce over 3,000 tons of hydrogen annually using clean hydropower.

Global Power Leader Cummins jumped 24 spots in the Wall Street Journal’s most recent Management Top 250, finishing No. 64 in the 2020 ranking of publicly traded U.S. companies developed by the Drucker Institute for the newspaper.

Cummins was ranked third in the Automotive/Industrial sector behind Ford (No. 19) and General Motors (No. 46). The annual analysis was released Dec. 12 by the Journal.

New Treatment Systems Help Cummins Plants Significantly Cut Water Use

No, the greenhouse at Cummins’ Rocky Mount Engine Plant (RMEP) doesn’t mean the company is diversifying into fruits and vegetables.

Two Cummins plants are putting new treatment systems to work to reduce their use of municipal water by about a third.

The company’s plant in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, is using a multi-faceted system, including hydroponics in a greenhouse, to return more wastewater to the plant for non-potable use, enabling the plant to reduce its purchases of municipal water.

Another new system at Cummins’ plant in Jamestown, New York, doesn’t employ hydroponics, but is also sending more wastewater back to the plant and reducing its municipal water use.
